With the practical info section fully translated, we said the next step would be the highest-traffic neighbourhood and attraction pages. This update delivers on that: The Rocks, Bondi, the Sydney Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge guides are now live in Indonesian, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
Why these four first
These aren't an arbitrary starting point — they're the site's original four articles, published before any of the expansion that followed, and consistently among the most-read pages on the English side of the site. If someone's only going to read a handful of translated guides before their trip, these are the four most likely to be exactly what they're looking for.
A note on place names
Unlike the practical info section, these guides are dense with proper nouns — street names, landmarks, suburb names. We kept genuine place names (The Rocks, Circular Quay, Mrs Macquarie's Chair, Campbell Parade) in their English form rather than attempting a translation or phonetic transliteration, which matches how these places actually appear on street signs, maps, and transport announcements. A visitor asking for directions needs the name that's actually posted on the sign, not a translated version that won't match anything they see in person.
